ST VINCENT de PAUL WINTER APPEAL FUNDRAISER

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all of the families in our school community who donated non-perishable food items and/or winter clothing or accessories. We were inundated with many wonderful items that will be provided to people in our local community who are in need this winter. These donations have been delivered to the local St Vincent de Paul Conference in Gunnedah.

FEAST DAY OF ST MARY MACKILLOP

Each year on August 8th, we celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's beloved first saint.

On this day, we celebrate the important role she played in making education accessible for children in our country. Mary MacKillop devoted her life to ensuring a holistic Catholic education for children from rural, poor families.

St Mary MacKillop's impact on Australian education was remarkable.  She was a trailblazer and a leader who passionately advocated for the education of underprivileged children and children in remote areas where others either would or could not go.  For such children and their families, Mary opened a door of hope into the future.

To honour her legacy and seek her intercession, we will conduct a Liturgy in class with staff and students during our Religion lesson time.

THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION MASS

This is a significant feast day that recalls the spiritual and physical departure of the mother of Jesus Christ - Mary, from Earth when both her soul and her body were taken into the presence of God in Heaven.

Next Thursday, 15th August, we will attend a 12pm Mass at Sacred Heart Church. We invite all families and Parishioners to attend Mass on this Holy Day of Obligation.
