Prep

Hello from PC

The last couple of weeks have been very exciting in Prep! On Monday 22nd July Prep C met their new teacher, Mrs Brown who will be taking over from Miss Campbell.

Wednesday 31st August marked Prep students’ 100th day of school and to celebrate their success, we had a party. Students traded in their LPS school uniform for the day and donned their best grandma and grandpa attire. The ‘oldies’ entered their decorated classrooms, greeted their 100 year old teachers and enjoyed a day full of fun activities centred around the number 100. The grandmas and grandpas enjoyed making crowns, making necklaces with 100 Cheerios, and receiving their 100-day certificates. We had an absolute blast!

In Literacy we have been working hard on blending sounds in words and reading decodable passages. Twice a week students read a passage, draw a picture to match and take this home to share with their family.

In Maths we have been focusing on addition, looking at number bonds, starting with the biggest number, counting on and reading and representing addition stories.

We have had a great start to term 3! We have had lots of fun so far and we have more exiting events to look forward to. Next week Preps will be going on their very first excursion to the Melbourne Zoo! Book week is quickly approaching and at the end of the term, Preps will be involved in the school musical. We can’t wait for all the fun things to come!
