Principal Report

Hasn’t it been a marvellous, but exhausting couple of weeks watching the best athletes in the world competing on the big stage at the Paris Olympics. As much as am I enjoying the excitement of watching our Aussies athletes compete, I am looking forward to getting back to my normal bedtime and sleeping routines.

Thankfully our annual Oatlands Athletics carnival last week began at a more reasonable hour of the day. Oatlands staff, students and our wider community had the pleasure of watching and supporting our wonderful Gr 3 – 6 athletes at Casey Fields. The weather was glorious, our students were wonderfully behaved, and a lot of fun was had by all. Thank you to the parents, carers and other family members who came along and supported our students with loud cheers, applause and hugs of pride. Well done to all students who competed and to those competing at the district event coming up.

Another stand out day this last fortnight was when our Prep students held their 100 Days Brighter celebration in recognition of their 100th day at school. The students bounced in the gates all dressed up in bright, colourful attire that lifted the spirits of all our students. Our Preppies had the most wonderful time playing games and celebrating the milestone with their friends.

Last Friday The Principal Team were incredibly humbled by the outpouring of appreciation and kindness our students and staff displayed as they acknowledged Principal Appreciation Day. The handmade cards, medals, posters, poems and kind words that we were showered with from the kids filled our buckets to capacity. It was a lovely reminder of just how amazing the students and staff here at Oatlands are. It is a fabulous place to be a part of.
