Hello from

Miss Bianca and students of - Grade 2/3B

Respect, Responsibility and Kindness

MATHS

This term, my enthusiastic Grade 2 and 3 students have been exploring the exciting world of multiplication! Building on their understanding of addition and number patterns, students have been learning how multiplication helps us solve problems faster and more efficiently. Students have been discovering how to group and count in twos, fives, and tens—and have nearly mastered the threes as well!  Students have been playing lots of games to reinforce their learning. They especially enjoy playing online games which also supports their computer knowledge, skills and capability. I have been encouraging all students to practice their times table facts for 5 minutes each night at home to help them consolidate their knowledge and develop automatic recall of these facts.

INQUIRY

This term’s Inquiry unit focuses on History. Students are exploring important national, religious, and cultural celebrations and commemorations in Australia and around the world. So far, they have learned about Australia Day and Holi. This week, the focus was on ancient Chinese traditions, specifically how masks were created and worn to protect against evil spirits and misfortune. These masks played a key role in ceremonies, dances, and rituals, particularly during celebrations like the Lunar New Year. People believed that wearing these masks would help keep them safe, healthy, and bring good luck to their families. To deepen their understanding, students designed and created their own masks, showcasing both their creativity and knowledge of this cultural practice.

GARDENING

This week students enjoyed working in teams and having wheelbarrow races against other teams within the classroom. Students had to fill manure into a wheelbarrow and navigate from the bottom garden area all the way up to the top garden manure pits. We quickly discovered Grade 2/3B are a very competitive bunch!

I am very proud of how hard the students have worked this term, keep up the fantastic work, Grade 2/3!
