Our St Gabriel's Primary School Acting Principal
Dear Families,
This newsletter comes to you in the afternoon of our School Production- Boogie in a Suitcase. We hope that you are looking forward to seeing your child on stage this evening. Tonight we celebrate the collaborative efforts of our production team, staff and children. We are grateful to all the staff who have really enjoyed supporting all the children to prepare for the performance. We can’t wait to celebrate the children on stage this evening at the Magis Performing Arts centre at Loyola College. All details can be found on the school stream app in the costume notification or the social story and important information notification.
Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs)
We want to assure all families that we employ CRTs as a necessary means to ensure that children have the opportunity to continue learning in the absence of their educator. Placing the children first is always our priority and we carefully consider the impact of organisational decisions on them. We employ CRTs from two reputable agencies that have thorough recruitment processes. Both of these agencies ensure that as a part of their recruitment process, candidates are required to meet the strict employment eligibility requirements for working in Australian Schools.
We acknowledge that having a CRT can be disruptive for children. We have many protocols in place to ensure that children are supported in the best possible way when a CRT is present in their Hub or taking their specialist lesson.
Our St Gabriel’s educators provide feedback about the professional conduct of all CRTs that work in our school and we have no hesitation in informing the agency that we will not have a particular CRT back if there are any concerns. We ask parents to communicate feedback about CRTs via email to principal@sgresrevoir.catholic.edu.au or to our Deputy Principal Chevon: cadamidis@sgreservoir.catholic.edu.au.
It was a privilege to be a part of the Australian Catholic Education Conference in August. I was inspired by a range of experts in Catholic Leadership and learning and teaching. It was an inspiring experience that reinforced the unique mission of Catholic schools and provided a wealth of practical strategies to enhance educational outcomes. I look forward to working with the leadership team to explore how we can take this learning to continue to improve St Gabriel’s School.
Our leadership team is focused on preparing for a joyful, engaging and productive 2026. This is a very important process and it takes time to ensure that all perspectives are considered as we prepare to provide the best possible school organisation and teaching and learning program for all children at St Gabriel’s. We will share updates with you as they are finalised. We thank you for your patience as we make our way through this very important work.
