Year 9 Computing Technology

Technology Robotics Challenges

Students are currently working through a series of challenges from drawing shapes with the Robot to pretending to be at traffic lights.

All of these first series of challenges are to establish an understanding for the coding they are using for the EV3 Robots.

Currently, we are up to following a line. Students must calibrate the Robot to make the robot see (using the light or colour sensor) the line and move forward on it.

The next challenge is Ten Pin Bowling where they must get the Robot to knock down the pins in the order of 1 pin, 3 pins, 7 pins then 10 pins.

Following this challenge students will compete against each other in Soccer, where the Robot has to score the goals.

The next challenge is for the Robots to play sumo against each other when they have to move their opponent out of the sumo circle.

We still have a few more challenges to be covered by the end of term including some surprise (mystery) challenges that they won’t know what they are to code until the actual day.
