Principal's Report

It has been another busy and exciting fortnight at Monash SDS.
Book Week
Our annual Book Week celebration is always a highlight, and this year was no exception. Students and staff alike embraced the chance to dress up as their favourite book characters, filling the school with colour, creativity, and lots of fun. The joy on the students’ faces as they proudly paraded in costume was truly wonderful to see.
AASE Conference
The major highlight this fortnight has been our involvement in the AASE (Australian Association of Special Education) National Conference. Our school played a significant role, hosting school tours to showcase our programs to delegates from across Australia—including Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales—as well as international visitors from New Zealand. By far, our proudest achievement was seeing our students step into leadership roles as student ambassadors. They represented our school brilliantly, welcoming delegates to workshops and introducing speakers at the conference. Their confidence and pride in their school was inspiring, and they received glowing feedback from delegates.
Upcoming Event – Dan Petro Presentation
Looking ahead, we are delighted to welcome back behaviour analyst Dan Petro, who will be presenting to families next week. Dan’s session, “The Challenges of Being a Parent – Making Your Job a Little Easier”, will run on Monday evening at 6:30pm. Dan is always engaging and insightful, and his presentations consistently receive excellent feedback from families. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to register and take advantage of this valuable opportunity.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our students and school community.
Warm regards,
Lindy Abernethy
