Community Access Program

Community Access sponsored by Muswellbrook Nissan
Over the past week, our Stage 5 and Stage 6 students participated in two successful Community Access excursions, each designed to support the development of independence and broaden their understanding of post-school options.
On Wednesday 6 August, our Stage 6 students visited the State Emergency Service (SES) office in Muswellbrook. They were welcomed by SES volunteers who provided a guided tour of the facilities and explained the organisation’s role in emergency response. Students had the opportunity to explore the equipment used during call outs and learn about the variety of situations SES teams respond to. The visit was especially relevant given recent weather events in our region, and students engaged confidently, asking insightful questions throughout. The excursion concluded with lunch at Muswellbrook Marketplace, allowing students to enjoy a relaxed social setting.
On Monday 11 August, our Stage 5 students visited the Muswellbrook Workers Club for a shared meal. This outing focused on fostering independence and social skills, with students independently ordering and paying for their meals. It was a valuable experience that encouraged confidence and real-world decision-making.
We sincerely thank Muswellbrook Nissan for their generous support in helping make these enriching experiences possible for our students.
