Library News

The libraries on both campuses have been busy with a range of engaging displays and activities recently. Students may have noticed our Reconciliation Week and Careers Week displays.
The Kildare Campus Book Club was successfully relaunched on Thursday 21 May, with approximately 20 students attending the first meeting. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading and discussion, and we look forward to the group continuing to grow throughout the year. Thanks to Mrs Chisholm and Mrs Scott for their enthusiasm in developing this group.
Students have also enjoyed a fascinating display featuring photographs from the Artemis II mission alongside historical images from the Apollo missions.
The display provided an opportunity to compare past and present space exploration and reflect on the place of the Earth in the vastness of space.
During recent library lessons, Mr Cohn has been working with Year 7 and 8 students on strategies for selecting suitable books.
These sessions focused on helping students identify books that match both their interests and reading levels, supporting the development of confident and independent readers.
Lunchtimes continue to be lively in the Brigidine Library, with students enthusiastically participating in the board game version of Dungeons & Dragons.
The sessions have provided students with a fun and social way to develop teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is also beginning, and students in Years 7–10 are encouraged to speak with their English teachers about participating.
The challenge aims to encourage students to read more widely and regularly while discovering new authors and genres.
In addition, there have been several new additions and updates to the library website.
The library continues to provide wonderful opportunities for students to develop their literacy, study skills, and social connections.
