YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM

This week in Year 2, we have been working hard! In Maths, we have started practicing fact families and learning about the connection between addition and subtraction. 

Students have had lots of success!

In Writing, we have started our new T4W text, an information report about unicorns. Students have been practicing the text and AUSLAN signs while they learn the structure. We have also been exploring a non-fiction text about ugly animals in our Reading lessons this week.

During our Wellbeing sessions, we have been learning about working as a team and collaborating. Students played some games and practiced strategies to help their team members. 

This week in Inquiry, the Year 2 students were treated to an incursion. They listened to Councilor Dizon speak about how the residents of a community can draw attention to something they feel the area needs and bring it up with the Council, and about the programs the Council provides such as rubbish collection, pet registration, libraries, kindergartens and community events. 

This week is Reconciliation Week, and the 2026 theme is "All In". This theme highlights that reconciliation is everyone's responsibility and encourages all of us to make meaningful, everyday commitments toward reconciliation.
