BLUE CLASS NEWSLETTER

Joke of the Week Why did the student eat his homework? Because the teacher told him it was a piece of cake!

English - Over the past two weeks, Blue Class has been busy developing their literacy skills through spelling, comprehension, research and writing activities. Students have explored a variety of texts, practised using effective reading strategies, and worked on improving their writing by including interesting vocabulary, descriptive language and clear paragraph structure.

This week, our learning focus is "Small Actions, Big Difference." Students are reading and discussing texts about kindness, empathy and making positive choices. As part of this unit, Blue Class has set a challenge to complete 100 Random Acts of Kindness throughout the week. Every act of kindness counts towards our goal, whether it is helping a friend, including someone in a game, tidying a shared space or simply using kind words. If we reach our target of 100 acts of kindness, the class will celebrate with a Class Party on Friday!

Mathematics - In Mathematics, students have continued developing their number knowledge and problem solving skills through a variety of engaging activities. We have been working on place value, number operations, reasoning tasks and applying mathematical strategies to real world situations. Students have demonstrated excellent persistence when tackling challenging problems and explaining their mathematical thinking.

STEM - Our STEM lessons have focused on scientific inquiry, engineering design and creative problem-solving. Students have participated in hands on investigations and design challenges, learning how to test ideas, make improvements and work collaboratively. It has been wonderful to see students thinking critically and applying their learning to practical situations.

PDHPE - Excitement is building as we prepare for the Athletics Carnival this Wednesday! During PDHPE lessons, students have been practising a range of athletic skills including running, throwing and jumping events. We have also discussed sportsmanship, resilience and the importance of encouraging others. We are looking forward to a fantastic day of participation and house spirit.

CAPA - SHINE practice has been in full swing, and students have been working incredibly hard to prepare for this year's production:Celebrate – Reach for the Stars

The energy, enthusiasm and commitment shown by our performers has been outstanding. Students have been learning songs, dances and performance routines and are growing in confidence each week. We cannot wait to share the show with our families and community and showcase all the hard work that has gone into creating this exciting production.

Homework Challenge: This fortnight, students can choose from the following home learning activities:

1. Kindness Challenge: Complete five random acts of kindness at home and record what you did.

2. Reading Challenge: Read for at least 20 minutes on five different days and record the titles of the books you read.

3. Reach for the Stars Goal: Write or draw one goal you would like to achieve this year and explain the steps you will take to reach it.
