Middle School News

Year 7 to Year 9

Term Two is certainly gathering momentum, with each week offering new opportunities for our students to connect, grow and shine. It has been fantastic to witness the enthusiasm and engagement across both students and staff as the term unfolds.

Our recent Secondary Assembly was a wonderful celebration of community, with the CAS filled to capacity with students, parents and staff. A highlight of the morning was the confident and polished leadership of our student MCs, Brian Francis (MacKillop House Representative), Tanisha Jones, Ekam Singh and Mitchell Hillyard, who guided proceedings with professionalism and pride.

We proudly acknowledged students stepping into leadership roles as House Representatives and celebrated our Communio Dandjoo recipients, who continue to exemplify the values and spirit of their PCGs. The assembly was further enriched by an outstanding performance from the College Band, showcasing the impressive musical talent we are fortunate to have within our school.

Our Year 9 Retreat was another standout experience this term. Taking part in the Camino Salvado, students and staff shared in a meaningful ‘education in the outdoors’ journey. Away from the busy-ness of daily life, the combination of reflection, connection and fresh country air created a powerful experience for all involved. My sincere thanks to Mrs Furfaro (Faith Life Coordinator) and the staff who supported the day, your organisation and care made this opportunity so special.

We were also privileged to welcome Lorin Nicholson back to the College. His visit left a lasting impression on our Year 7 students, who were captivated by his story, talent and message. Through his engaging presentation and activities, students were encouraged to reflect on resilience, purpose and making the most of their opportunities. Thank you to Mrs Browne (Wellbeing Coordinator) for organising the incursion, and to Ms MacDonald (Year 7 Coordinator) for her support throughout the day.

As always, there is no shortage of opportunities for students to get involved and enjoy school life beyond the classroom. At Salvado, we are deeply committed to the holistic development of each young person. Our wide range of co-curricular clubs, including art, soccer, basketball, homework, maths and volleyball and Year 9 Christian Service Learning, provides students with meaningful ways to build friendships, develop new skills and strengthen their connection to our community.

It continues to be a joy to see our Middle School students embracing these opportunities and contributing so positively to the life of the College.

Regards,

Mr Brendan McGrath
