Junior School Students Celebrating Learning, Faith and Achievement

As we move through Term Two at the College, our Year 3 students, along with their parents, recently attended the Sacrament of Reconciliation Workshops, where they deepened their understanding of this important sacrament. It was wonderful to see such strong family involvement as students prepared for this meaningful step in their faith journey. The workshops provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, discussion and shared learning within our faith community. The candidate’s celebration will be on Thursday 11 June 2026 at 6:30pm (St Francis Xavier Church, Hilbert. All are welcome to join us on this special occasion.

In addition, all Year 3 students participated in their Retreat Day, which provided a special opportunity for reflection, connection and continued spiritual growth. Throughout the day, students engaged in activities that encouraged them to strengthen their relationships with God and one another while further exploring the meaning of forgiveness, compassion and faith in their everyday lives.

Recently, our Year 6 students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Cricket Carnival held at Sutherlands Park. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship while competing against other schools. It was great to see such enthusiasm, encouragement and positive spirit throughout the day. We are very proud of the way our students represented the school, both on and off the field. Thank you to Mr Fiegert and Mrs Rozario for their attendance and for preparing the students for this day.

We congratulate Ivy Scott, Kaylee Weaire and Gerard Yhui Choquenaira from Year 6 who proudly represented the College at the Public Speaking Competition held at the Byford and Districts Country Club. Speaking on the topical issue of a social media ban, the students demonstrated confidence, strong preparation and the ability to thoughtfully express their ideas. The winner of this competition, Kaylee Weaire, will be representing our College and Region at Parliament House next week! Very exciting!

Junior School focus in literacy is writing and Brightpath is a valuable tool teachers are using to support their students. Brightpath Writing is an evidence-based formative assessment tool that visibly improves student writing skills in years K–9. Based on 20 years of research and proven success, Brightpath calibrates students’ writing against a common evidence-based scale that can be used across the whole school to drive growth over time.

The clear progression of knowledge and skills makes progress and learning more visible and distinct – allowing teachers to make a measurable impact on students’ writing ability, in class and across the whole school.
