 🌟 Celebrating Success

As we move through Week 8, I would like to acknowledge the wonderful learning, engagement and positive attitudes demonstrated by our students across the school. It has been pleasing to see students continuing to challenge themselves, support their peers and take pride in their achievements. In our classrooms and learning spaces, students have been engaged in productive learning activities. Students have been working on their individual goals through a range of curriculum areas and doing their best when faced with challenges. We encourage families to take time to celebrate both the big and small successes with their children.

🎯Attendance Matters

A reminder that regular attendance plays a vital role in student learning and wellbeing. Every day at school provides valuable opportunities for students to build knowledge, strengthen friendships and participate fully in classroom activities. Thank you to families for supporting positive attendance habits. A reminder that you can use Compass to record your child's absences or you can phone through to the school office if your child is absent.

🤝 Positive Behaviour and Wellbeing

We continue to focus on fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment. Students, staff and families  are to be congratulated for demonstrating our school values through their actions each day. This demonstration of caring, sharing, doing our best and being safe contributes to the positive school culture we are proud of.  Our Wellbeing team meets fortnightly to consider the support needs of students and families and to consider best options for providing support. This may be through school based or wider community based services.

Members of the wellbeing team include:

  • Sam Redenbach (Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader)
  • Linda Garland (Family Support Co-ordinator)
  • Katie Coller (NDIS Navigator)
  • Brooke Curtis (OT and and Mental Health Practitioner)
  • Judith McDonald (Assistant Principal)

At Croydon SDS, the wellbeing of all of our students is very important to us. If you have any concerns or questions about your child's wellbeing, please speak with your child's classroom teacher.  A member of the wellbeing team may also be able to support.

🚨 Emergency Management Drill Update

Our scheduled emergency management drill was unable to proceed over the past two weeks due to the unfavourable weather conditions. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and the decision was made to postpone the drill to ensure it could be conducted safely and effectively.

Emergency drills are an important part of our school's preparedness procedures, helping students and staff understand what to do in the event of an emergency. The drill will be rescheduled for a later date, and students will be provided with appropriate information and support beforehand.

We appreciate the cooperation of our school community and look forward to completing the drill in the coming weeks. Safety preparedness continues to be an important focus, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond appropriately in an emergency situation. 🚸

📖 Learning at Home

A reminder that reading at home each day can have a significant impact on student achievement. This might be reading to or with your child. Even a few  minutes of reading, discussing stories and practising key skills can strengthen learning and build confidence.

👏 Thank You

Thank you to our students, staff and families for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we continue to create a positive learning environment where every student can thrive.
