Transport Safety

(image from PTV.vic.gov.au)

These holidays are a good time to have reminder conversations about being safe when travelling to and from school.

Bikes and scooters

Use bike lanes

ALWAYS wear a helmet

Wear hi-vis jackets or clothing

Always lock your bike or scooter securely. Bike racks are available at the front of the school on Story St, inside the driveway and on the pathway from Royal Pde to the GTAC building. Scooter racks are located in front of the Music Wing and EBS building. Do not ride your bike or scooter on school grounds - walk it through the school.

Pedestrians

Be alert to your surroundings (look up from your phone and make sure you can still hear external noises if wearing headphones).

Always look both ways before crossing roads, and make sure you are using only the pedestrian lights and crossings.

There are new crossings on Royal Parade - please make note of these and obey the road markings.

Cars

If possible, please avoid dropping students off directly in front of the school on Story St: this is a very heavily trafficked area. Please drive slowly and carefully if you are using this street, and exercise patience and extreme caution when pulling in to and out of parking spots on the street.

Trams

There are new tram stops on Royal Pde, with the north-bound stop now closer to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Students should ensure that they are ONLY using the traffic lights after getting off this tram, both to cross Royal Pde and then to cross Grattan St on the way to school.
