Galileo, Term 1

Galileo has flown by this term. It feels like no time at all that the Galileo staff met our Term One group and walked them to our home base for the term, North Melbourne Primary School.  Since then, the students have participated in various activities pushing them out of their comfort zones, such as rock climbing, dance classes, surveying members of the public and orienteering.

But, the biggest highlight of the term had to be the camp in the Grampians/Gariwerd. We got very lucky with three beautiful days that were perfect for activities like canoeing, hiking, abseiling and mountain biking. Here are some quick recounts from the students on their favourite things about the camp:

Galileo camp is by far the best camp I've been on. I loved the activities we had, like abseiling/rock climbing, high ropes, canoeing and so many more. Since I brought a camcorder, I was able to record so many memories that I will always keep.

Sienna Baluyot, 9J1

On the half day hike on Wednesday, we stumbled across multiple wild kangaroos jumping around, and it was so amazing seeing wild animals in nature.

Hayden Choi, 9T2

The Grampians National Park (Gariwerd) had an exceptional, breath-taking view from the peaks of the mountain, however, reaching up was steep and challenging. I really enjoyed rock climbing, even though I was scared at first, but I managed to get to the top!

Kashish Fatema Pathan, 9J1

I really appreciate such an amazing opportunity the Galileo teachers gave me. For the first time in my life, I got to step out of my comfort zone and enjoyed the real challenge from rock climbing and abseiling. I also loved spending time with my friends doing trivia and other activities. Camp is amazing. You guys should all try it :)
