Kildare Catholic College Student Representative Council are promoting the upcoming Do It for Dolly Day as a fundraising and awareness opportunity to support youth mental health, cybersafety and awareness.
Cyberbullying is a serious issue that affects many young people today. It involves using technology, such as smartphones, social media and the internet, to harass, threaten, humiliate or spread rumours about someone. Cyberbullying can cause deep emotional harm and have long-lasting effects. Parents and caregivers need to talk to their children and teens about cyberbullying, so they understand what it is and how to protect themselves and others. Having a discussion about staying safe online will help your child navigate the digital world with confidence.

Melbourne Playback Theatre Company
In collaboration with the Wagga Wagga Women's Health Centre, visited and performed a show for Year 9s called Healthy Relationships. This was the second time Melbourne Playback visited, after a performance in 2022. The show, Healthy Relationships, aims to start a conversation about what makes a relationship healthy and respectful. In the show, we had a conversation about all kinds of relationships: friendships, family, workmates, romantic relationships, teammates, and more.
Melbourne Playback, however, is an improvisation company. This means that each show is entirely unique. The content of each show is based on moments shared by audience members. The Year 9s shared moments and stories from their lives, and our performers played these moments back through theatrical performance, improvising it on the spot. In Playback performances, we establish a safe and caring (and fun and silly) atmosphere. The conversation in Healthy Relationships can cover a range of areas related to both healthy and unhealthy relationships: bullying, recognising where our support structures and supportive relationships are, establishing boundaries, recognising nasty situations, revelling in great friendships, and more. The goal of Healthy Relationships is to empower students to identify what a healthy relationship is and to strengthen student communities in schools through storytelling and empathy.
This year, we heard stories about sticking up for each other, about close friends living far away, and about lending an ear when things got tough.
We at Melbourne Playback really enjoyed visiting Kildare, and will hopefully be back next year!"
