Ramadan and WHS:

This year, I discovered Mr McGreal's ancestors came from the same place in Ireland as my mum's ancestors did—Country Cork. It is always awesome to make new connections and deepen our understanding of each other.

As a school, we are making an effort to gain a deeper understanding of our Muslim brothers and sisters, who are an important part of our beautiful, multi-faceted Western Heights community whānau.

At our last Whānau Time, I shared a short video in which young children shared what Ramadan meant to them. It was pretty special. I am now putting together a follow-up to that with some of our own Muslim children at Western Heights. We should have that ready to share in time for our last Whānau Time of term one—in week ten.

Some of our children are observing Ramadan, so they are fasting during the day. I am proud of our staff for the quiet and thoughtful ways they have found to support these children through this time.
