The Learning Zone
Kiah
St Xavier’s Primary School’s new creative cultural room opened on Monday 18th March. Mr Morley and Mrs Jensen welcomed many excited students to Kiah to begin their creative journey.
The new space at St Xavier’s is called ‘Kiah’. In Gamilaraay Language, Kiah means ‘A beautiful place’.
St Xavier’s wanted to offer a creative cultural hub for everyone to have the opportunity to come and spend some time listening to Dreamtime Stories, having a yarn around the ‘Yarning Mat’, being creative through painting, drawing, colouring, making objects out of clay, learning about aboriginal symbols in art and dot painting just to name a few. Kiah will be open at lunchtime from Monday through to Friday.
Special mention goes to Darius Wortley and Mila Thompson for sharing their artistic talents in helping Mr Morley and Mrs Jensen create a new sign for the space.
