Languages
The Gap State High School has welcomed German youth workers into its German language classes, bringing a wealth of benefits to both students and educators. This innovative initiative has sparked heightened engagement among students, as the native speakers infuse the classrooms with authentic cultural experiences. The direct interaction with German youth workers not only enriches language acquisition but also provides students with a unique opportunity to receive personalized support in their linguistic journey. This collaborative effort has transformed language learning into a dynamic and interactive experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the German language and culture among The Gap State High School students.
STUDY TOUR
Josai Uni Ikebukuro Junior High School Study Tour
Our school community hosted 18 students from Japan for a 2-week stay from 12 to 25 February. The students were home-stayed by families within our school and wider community and met with many wonderful and different experiences that I’m sure will be the topics of many conversations with their families and friends.
We also try to provide a variety of experiences here at school so that our guests do leave us not only knowing a little bit more about Australia and the Queensland education system, but also with some individual personal growth.
Our school buddies have remained committed throughout and have performed their important role as helpful friend extremely well. I now have a core group of experienced buddies who really do make a huge contribution to the success of the visit.
Buddies have joined in with group activities such as a trip to Café Tara, cooking pizza swirls, the circle drum activity with Chappy Dave and group games with Ms Probst.
Thank you to classroom teachers who have welcomed our guests into their classrooms with buddies.
Thank you to our wonderful home stays!
