Camp Information

Year 8 Camp

We are returning to Maroon Outdoor Education Centre for Year 8 Camp in 2024. Maroon OEC is an Education Queensland school at the edge of Maroon Dam and the program is delivered by registered teachers with Outdoor Education qualifications. Due to the size of the cohort, the camp is split across two weeks as follows:

Camp 1 – Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 May 2024 (Week 6, Term 2) (8 classes)

*Volleyball students will need to attend this camp

Camp 2 – Tuesday 28 May to Friday 31 May 2024 (Week 7, Term 2) (4 classes)

**Music students attending Fanfare will need to attend this camp

Forms for Year 8 Camp will be emailed to parents at the end of this term and are due back early in Term 2. The cost of the camp is approximately $310.

Year 11 Camp and Work Experience

Year 11 camp is coming up in Week 10, Term 2 (Tuesday 18 – Friday 21 June). As the final camp experience at The Gap, students have the option of choosing from a variety of camp programs or participating in Work Experience. Students are required to bring their own food for some of these camps to build on the skills they have developed on previous camps. We have meetings prior to camp to help these students plan their meals.

The camp options for 2024 include:

  • Horse riding
  • Noosa Everglades Paddle
  • Sea Kayak Journey
  • Art retreat
  • Surf Camp

These options were shared with students in an assembly last week. In the next week, students and parents will be emailed information about each camp, costs and the process for signing up for their preferred camp or Work Experience. The sign-up process will occur through TryBooking and a link will be included in the email.

Each camp has a maximum number of participants so TryBooking will not take extra bookings after the camp is full. Students will be able to add their name to a waiting list if they miss out on their preferred camp. Each camp also has a minimum number of participants that is required for the camp to go ahead. If a camp does not reach the minimum number, participants will be given the option of choosing another camp or work experience.

Work Experience placements are organised by Senior Schooling, using an external provider, SCIPS. The cost of Work Experience is $185. This cost covers insurance, administration of paperwork and oversight and management of the placement. Senior Schooling will email parents the information and link for signing up for Work Experience.
