We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

School Policies

Child safety and wellbeing at Miners Rest Primary School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Miners Rest Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website - www.minersrestps.vic.edu.au

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact Miners Rest Primary School at miners.rest.ps@education.vic.gov.au or by phone on 03 5334 6328.

Student Led Conferences

We have received lots of positive feedback from families in relation to our Student Led Conferences. Last week families received Learning Statements for each of their children outlining some learning achievements and learning goals. This was then followed this week by our Student Led Conferences. These conferences have been developed to leverage the voice and agency of our students as learners. Please understand that if there are any issues regarding your child's learning, your child's classroom teacher will always make contact as required in a timely manner. Further to this, if you, as a parent have any concerns or wish to have a deeper discussion regarding your child's learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher via email or phone call at any time.

Thank you.

Ball Sports

We were absolutely thrilled to have so many families to join us to cheer on our participants in the MRK-6 Ball Sports today - what a wonderful way to join together and finish the term.

Athletics Day

We are excited to engage in our Athletics Day tomorrow. Please remember that at the conclusion of the day, parents will need to sign their child out formally with their classroom teacher. Children cannot attend the canteen to purchase food, however families can deliver food to their child if necessary. See you tomorrow with your colours and cameras!

School Review

Next term, we are engaging in our School Review. This is very important work that occurs every four years to review the school's achievements and develop direction for the following four-year period. To ensure that we consider the perspective of the whole school, families will be invited to provide feedback via a survey at the start of next term. We would appreciate the input from as many families as possible to gain a wide perspective about our school from the community. Further information will be communicated in Week One of next term. We look forward to your participation in this important process.

Happy Holidays

We wish our entire school community a happy, safe and relaxing holiday and we thank each and every one of you for your support throughout the first term of the year.

With the very best wishes,

Kylie Nissen
