Positive Behaviour And Wellbeing At Scoresby Primary School

At Scoresby Primary School, we believe that a safe, supportive and inclusive environment is essential for every child to thrive. Our approach to behaviour management is grounded in our H.E.A.R.T. valuesHonesty, Excellence, Acceptance, Respect and Trust – and focuses on teaching, modelling and reinforcing positive behaviour.

We have high and consistent expectations for all students, and we work proactively to promote respectful relationships, inclusion and student engagement. Positive behaviour is acknowledged both in classrooms and at assemblies, and students are supported to make choices that help themselves and others to learn and feel safe.

When issues arise, we use restorative practices to help students reflect on their actions, repair relationships and plan for positive future behaviour. We always consider supportive, non-punitive strategies first, addressing the causes of behaviour before using consequences such as withdrawal of privileges, detentions or suspension (as a last resort). Students are always given the opportunity to be heard.

Our policy also outlines clear steps for responding to inappropriate behaviour, ensuring actions are fair, consistent and respectful. By working in partnership with families, we maintain a learning environment where every student can feel safe, valued and ready to achieve their personal best.

Student-Led Fundraiser

A group of senior students - Bella L, Tommy and Emily - have organised a fundraising event so that the school can purchase some new sandpit toys to be used in our lovely refurbished sandpit.

This event - a games afternoon - will be held next Wednesday 20th August after school, from 3.30-4.30pm, on the stage/undercover area (weather permitting).

All students are welcome to attend for a gold coin donation.

Please note that parents must be in attendance to supervise their children whilst they participate in the games.

This is a fantastic community event which will benefit all students in the school, and we commend the organising group for their idea. We hope to see many families there!
