Year 9 and 10 Subject Selection Day Sets Students on the Path to 2026

On Tuesday, July 29th, Year 9 and Year 10 students took part in Subject Selection Day for the 2026 academic year. The day provided students with valuable insights and guidance as they considered their future learning pathways.

The event featured presentations covering various options, including VCE, VCE-VM, and VET, with support from our Careers team. We were also pleased to welcome representatives from TAFE Gippsland, who provided expert advice on vocational pathways.

Students had the opportunity to explore expos set up by different learning areas, allowing them to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions to help inform their choices.

In the evening, Year 10 parents were invited to attend a dedicated session to learn more about starting VCE, fostering greater understanding and support for their children’s academic decisions.

We had a great turnout throughout the day and evening, making it a fantastic occasion to talk about and plan for our students’ futures.

A big thank you to all the staff involved in organising and supporting Subject Selection Day — your hard work and dedication made the event a success.

A reminder that subject selection web preferences close on August 15th, so students and families are encouraged to submit their choices by this date.

Year 8 Subject Selection Update

On Wednesday, August 6th, all Year 8 students will attend a presentation outlining their elective options for 2026. This session will give students a clear overview of each subject and provide an opportunity to ask questions as they think about their future choices.

Students have already received the link to submit their subject preferences. We encourage them to wait until after the presentation before finalising their selections.

Please note that Year 8 web preferences will close on August 12th.

NAPLAN Results Now Available for Parents and Guardians

NAPLAN results have been posted and are ready for parents and guardians to review. These reports offer valuable insights into your child’s progress in key areas such as reading, writing, and numeracy.

How to Read the NAPLAN Student Report:

  • The front page provides general information about the tests and explains how to interpret the report.
  • The second and third pages display your child’s results in each assessment area, classified into one of four proficiency levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs additional support.
  • Results are shown alongside the national average for your child’s year level (marked by a black triangle) and the range of achievement for the middle 60% of students in that year level (represented by a light shaded rectangle). In some states and territories, the report also includes the school average.
  • The final page offers a summary of the skills typically demonstrated by students at each proficiency level. For more detailed descriptions, parents can refer to the official proficiency level descriptions.

If you have any questions about your child’s results or need further assistance, please contact the school. We encourage all families to carefully review the reports and support their child’s ongoing learning journey.
