Wellbeing & Engagement

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Our school uses Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) to create a safe and supportive environment where all students can do their best.
PBL has three levels of support:
- Tier 1 – For Everyone: Clear expectations, positive rewards, and consistent routines for all students.
- Tier 2 – For Some: Small group or extra support, like social skills groups or check-ins, for students who need a little more help.
- Tier 3 – For a Few: Individual plans and intensive support for students with higher needs, developed with families and staff working together.
This approach means every child gets the right level of support to help them learn, grow, and succeed.
PBL Lessons
This week in PBL lessons, students are focusing on “Letting Others Learn.”
We are helping students understand the importance of:
- Being respectful when others are speaking or working
- Staying on task during lessons
- Using our words and actions to support a positive learning environment
By practising these skills, students help create a classroom where everyone can focus, participate, and succeed. Please talk about these skills with your child.

Student Wellbeing and Respectful Relationships
Wellbeing Week – Next Week
Next week is Wellbeing Week! Throughout the week, students will take part in a variety of activities designed to support and strengthen their wellbeing, including:
- Mindfulness and relaxation sessions
- Daily movement and fitness challenges
- Gratitude and kindness activities
- Eating healthy
Creative and fun brain breaks with their class
No Homework During Wellbeing Week
To support this focus, students will not receive homework next week. Instead, we encourage families to use this time to do something enjoyable together—go for a walk, play a board game, cook a meal, or simply spend time talking.
Please try not to replace homework time with extra screen time. Research shows that too much recreational screen use can negatively affect sleep, reduce concentration, increase stress, and limit opportunities for real-world connection and physical activity.
Why is wellbeing important? When students feel well—physically, emotionally, and socially—they are more ready to learn, connect with others, and face challenges with confidence. Wellbeing is the foundation for positive mental health, resilience, and lifelong success.
How can parents help?
Parents play a key role in supporting their child’s wellbeing. You can help by:
- Encouraging regular routines (sleep, healthy meals, exercise)
- Taking time to listen and talk about their day
- Celebrating effort as well as achievement
- Practising gratitude and positive thinking as a family
- Replacing screen time with fun, shared family activities
Together, we can make wellbeing a priority and help our students thrive!
Student Council
Student Council Fundraiser- The Student Council will be raising money to purchase resources that support student wellbeing.
Next Thursday, the student council will be baking and selling bickies. These can be purchased at the back of the office for $1.00 each.
At the following Student Council meeting, students will be invited to share their ideas on how the money raised should be used to promote the wellbeing of all students.
House Events
House activities for the term are well underway!
The Trivia Challenge was another highlight, coming down to the wire with Bishop House taking the victory by just one point. As a reward, Bishop students enjoyed some bonus playtime today.
Coming Up – Wellbeing Competition
Next week, as part of Wellbeing Week, all students are encouraged to join our special House Wellbeing Competition. To take part, students simply need to share a wellbeing activity they do to look after themselves. Further details will be provided in class and at assembly—so start talking with your child about their ideas!
What House events are still to come this term:
- Premiers Reading Challenge – Winning house revealed at next week’s assembly
- Lunchtime Obstacle Games – Week 7 (Monday & Tuesday)
- Handball Competition – Week 8

🎁 Operation Christmas Child Fundraiser 🎁
This year our school is once again supporting Operation Christmas Child. This wonderful initiative, that provides children in need around the world with a shoebox filled with small gifts, hygiene items, and school supplies.
Each class is invited to contribute items to help fill our shoeboxes.
Suggested donations include:
- Small toys (no war-related items please)
- Stationery and school supplies
- Clothing accessories (hats, socks, hair ties)
Hygiene items (soap, toothbrush, comb)
Please avoid food, liquids, toothpaste, or anything breakable.
Boxes will be packed and sent off in early October, so donations need to be at school by the end of the term.
This is a great opportunity for our students to learn about kindness, generosity, and the joy of giving to others. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children who may otherwise go without at Christmas.
