Inquiry
Our Inquiry topic this term focuses on the essential question 'How can we help living things thrive?' We will learn about what living things need to not just survive but thrive as well. We will identify what makes something living and how we can group or classify them, how they interact with other living things in their environment and what impact humans have on them.
We will attend an excursion to Myuna Farm where we will participate in activities that connect closely to our Inquiry topic about Living Things. Students explore biodiversity, gardening, waste reduction, and sustainable living, learning how living things depend on each other and the environment to survive. Each hands-on experience highlights the importance of caring for living things and their habitats through responsible actions at school and at home.
At school, we will be participating in rotations that include learning about vertebrates and invertebrates, planting and growing wheatgrass, making habitats for insects and creating an amazing mural with artist Rox, using Posca markers. The mural will be a fantastic opportunity for our Grade 3 students to create something that HPS students will enjoy for years to come!
If you have any expertise in this particular Inquiry topic, please contact your child’s teacher to let them know how we can utilise your knowledge. We welcome any parents who would like to present to the cohort. This is a great way to utilise our school community and bring valuable resources into the classroom.
