Celebrating Australia Principal Recognition Day
On Friday 1 August 2025, students and staff came together to celebrate Guyra Central School’s Relieving Principal, Mr Tim Lloyd, in honour of Australian Principal Appreciation Day. Our primary students crafted a canvas filled with delightful drawings of Mr Lloyd. To express our gratitude, the staff organised a morning tea to recognise Mr Lloyd's dedication, support, and guidance. We thanked him for his unwavering commitment to fostering success and creating such a positive learning environment at Guyra Central School.
Ignite your Potential - Celebrating Public Education Week
During Week 3, Guyra Central School honoured Public Education Week, embracing this year's theme, “Ignite Your Potential.” We took this opportunity to highlight the achievements of students, teachers, and the entire school community at our celebration on Thursday 8 August 2025.
This year, the recipients of the Guyra Central School Public Education Awards were:
Lillianna Eddy: Recognised for her dedication and thorough approach to her senior studies.
Aoife Collins: Honoured for her leadership skills and supportive nature.
Hamish Brown: Acknowledged for his organisational abilities and leadership.
Each year, we celebrate a community member for their contributions to Guyra Central School. This year, Mr Richard Post received our community award for his incredible support, positive attitude, and dedication as part of our P&C.
Additionally, Mrs. Natasha Roberts was recognised for her professional support across Guyra Central School in various areas.
In a heartfelt gesture following Australia Primary Principals Day in Week 2, Lillianna Eddy created a video featuring many of our students and staff to honour Relieving Principal Mr Lloyd. The video included touching messages of gratitude for his commitment to our staff, students, and the community.
To wrap up our Education Week Celebrations, Guyra Central School hosted our annual event, The Guyra Gift. This tradition started in 1996, initiated by the Year 11 Sport & Recreation class, featuring a 100m handicapped race involving students from K-12, community members, and staff. This year’s winners of the Guyra Gift were:
First Place: Kailyn Dittman and Ron Llewellyn
Second Place: Rose Kliendienst
Third Place: Airlie Vidler
Guyra Central School is dedicated to helping every child achieve their full potential, and we would like to extend our gratitude to our students, staff, and community members for their unwavering support of our wonderful school.
Author Jacqui Graham visit
On Friday 31 August 2025, Stage 2 and Stage 3 had the wonderful opportunity to listen to Jacqui Graham, the author of the Cottonwood series, as she spoke about her books. The students gained valuable insights into the intricacies of writing and publishing a book.
A heartfelt thank you to Jacqui for visiting our school, stage 2 and stage 3 truly enjoyed your inspiring talk.
Gardening with Rebecca Wood
Check out our primary student amazing hydroponic garden. Our primary students' seedlings were initially planted on 26 June 2025, and we have successfully completed our first harvest of spinach, lettuce and bok choy on 28 August, 2025.
Crazy Hair Day
In week four, our Student Representative Council (SRC) organised a Crazy Hair Day to raise essential funds for Cystic Fibrosis Australia. The entire school community, including students and staff, participated in this enjoyable event, showcasing a variety of imaginative and artistic hairstyles.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in with their wild hairstyles and contributed a gold coin to support Cystic Fibrosis Australia. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our creative parents and caregivers for their time and effort in styling their children's hair. It truly contributed to a successful event.
Celebrating literacy - Book week 2025
What an incredible week we experienced while celebrating Book Week at Guyra Central School! This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” marked the 80th anniversary of Children’s Book Week. Throughout the week, our students engaged in a variety of activities and had the chance to explore the Scholastic Book Fair held in our library.
We also hosted a Book Week Dress-Up Day and invited parents to join us for the parade. Our students looked absolutely amazing and put tremendous effort into their costumes.
Celebrating Fathers Day
On Friday 31 August 2025, Guyra Central School hosted a delightful Father's Day Breakfast to recognise the vital role that fathers and male role models play in children’s lives. Their involvement can significantly enhance academic achievement, social skills, and emotional well-being.
Our students truly cherish the opportunity to bring their loved ones into the school, and this year's Father's Day Breakfast was no exception. We had an impressive turnout for the event, and it was wonderful to witness our students enjoying quality time with their family members.
We hope all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other special figures felt appreciated during Guyra Central School's celebrations.
Secondary Talent Show
In Term 3, Year 12 students, SRC and Mr Uvi organised a spectacular Talent Night that featured performances from students in Years 7-12. The evening was a vibrant display of talent, with students showcasing their skills through singing, dancing, musical performances, and acting.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, and we hope our audience enjoyed the evening as much as our performers did. It’s truly wonderful to shine a spotlight on our students and their remarkable abilities, and we eagerly anticipate bringing even more of their talents to the stage in 2026.
