NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC)

Throughout our library lessons, we have been actively participating in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge. This initiative encourages students to read more and broaden their literary horizons. We are proud of our students' enthusiasm and dedication to completing the challenge.

Huge congratulations to the years 3-6 students who have completed the NSW PRC:

Year 3: Mary T 3W

Year 5: Sophia R 5W and Sophia T 5W

Congratulations and Keep up the great work!

Library Reading Champions!

Each term in our library, we’re running a friendly competition to encourage positive reading habits. We’re tracking which class borrows and returns the most books—and we’re thrilled to see so many students excited about reading!

In Term 1, the winning class was 5W.

In Term 2, a big congratulations goes to 4W, who topped the borrowing and returning leader board!

We love seeing students making reading part of their daily routine. Remember, reading isn’t just for school—it’s a powerful tool to help you relax and unwind. A few quiet pages before bed is a perfect way to calm your mind and settle in for a good night’s sleep.

Book Week Information

This term is an exciting and important time for all libraries as we celebrate Book Week!

K-2 Activities:

Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 will be participating in the Inner West Drawing Competition. During library lessons, all students will have the opportunity to create their drawings, showcasing their creativity and imagination.

Years 3-6 Activities:

Students in Years 3 to 6 will take part in the Inner West Writing Competition. They will be writing a short story about an amazing and unforgettable adventure. This will also take place during library lessons, and I will be submitting all students' work to Ashfield Council.

Author and Illustrator Visit:

We are thrilled to announce that the wonderful David Legge, both an author and an illustrator, will be visiting our school on Thursday, 14th August. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with a talented creative and gain inspiration for their own writing and illustrating.

Book Parade:

Our Book Parade will take place during Book Week on Wednesday, 20th August. We encourage all students to dress up as their favourite book character and celebrate the joy of reading together.

Let’s make this Book Week a memorable one!

Book Club

Issue 5 book club is out, and just a quick reminder that all book club orders are done online only via loop. If you have never done this before it is simple.

You can visit scholastic.com.au/LOOP or you can download the app (search scholastic, then look for the app that has the word ‘loop’ written on it).

Book club orders will be finalised by the end of next week. So make sure you get your orders in.

Happy Reading
