Assistant Principal

Dear Parents

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you all had a lovely holiday break with your families.

Class Work when Students are absent due to Illness

When students are absent from school, we encourage them to rest and focus on recovery. Classwork will not be sent home during this time, as our priority is student wellbeing. Students are welcome to complete any regularly scheduled homework or continue with their reading if they feel up to it. Teachers will support students in catching up on missed learning once they return to school. Thank you for your understanding.

Labelled Belongings

Please make sure that all student belongings are labelled. As the term progresses and the weather becomes warmer, students will take jumpers off during recess and lunch. We hope to keep our Lost Property basket empty this term!

School Hours and Supervision

School supervision on the playground begins at 8.20 am in the morning. We ask that students are dropped off from 8.20am onwards and not before. When dropping students off, please take careful note of the parking notices and crossing areas around our school. Your child’s safety and the safety of all our students is paramount.

Please be respectful of our school neighbours and do not park in or across driveways.

The morning bell rings at 8.50 am. Any child arriving after this time needs to be accompanied by a parent to the office and signed in on the Compass iPad. This is important to ensure that the students are marked present and their attendance is correct.

If your child is absent from school please update on Compass.

Tomorrow is Census Day. It is important that all students arrive at school on time so our records can be as accurate as possible. Thank you for assisting us in this important documentation process.

NAPLAN Results for 2025

Parents with students in Years 3 and 5 received NAPLAN results last week. Below is a snapshot of the proficiency bands.

  • Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
  • Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
  • Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
  • Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

We are proud to share the excellent NAPLAN results achieved by our Year 3 and Year 5 students. Over 90% of students in both year levels received results in the Exceeding or Strong bands across all areas — Reading, Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling, and Numeracy. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the high-quality teaching and learning at St Francis Xavier, and we congratulate our students and staff on their hard work and dedication.

Friendology Relaunch for 2025

We were excited to relaunch our UR Strong Friendology program last Friday.

URSTRONG is all about empowering kids with friendship skills! The program is a proven, skills-based strategy that teaches kid-friendly concepts, skills and language to help them build and maintain healthy friendships. All classes will complete the program as a part of their health curriculum in Term 3.

Pastoral care and well-being is always at the forefront of our planning for the children and we will discuss this further at our Parent information session Monday night.

God Bless,

Fiona
