Hello from Music

Music News – Term Update
It’s been an exciting time in Music at Langwarrin Primary!
At the moment, we are focusing on drumming skills across all year levels. Students are learning how to keep a steady beat and explore simple rhythms using the names of fruits (for example: 'apple', 'pear', 'watermelon'). This fun approach makes rhythm easy to understand and remember. We are also working on simple rock beats, introducing the hi-hat, snare, and bass drum, and learning how these instruments work together to create a groove.
This term we’ve also taken a step into the future with the addition of our new Virtual Reality system. Students have been trying out Beat Saber to strengthen their sense of rhythm and timing, and will soon move onto Paradiddle, a drumming app where they can experiment with beats, patterns, and songs in a creative way.
Meanwhile, our Year 6s and Preps are busy preparing for our school musical, The Wizard of Langwarrin, which opens in just three weeks! Their songs are sounding fantastic, and our lead performers have done a wonderful job bringing the story together. It’s going to be a show to remember.
Of course, music lessons wouldn’t be complete without plenty of singing and musical games, which the students love and which help develop their listening and teamwork skills.
It’s been a joy to see the enthusiasm and creativity in every class, and we can’t wait to share more music-making with you soon!
