Year 2/3 

Over the past three weeks, the 2/3 students have been busy learning, exploring, and achieving so much in the classroom. This week, the students of 2/3P have taken on the role of newsletter writers and are excited to share with you all the highlights of our learning so far this term. We hope you enjoy reading about what has been happening in 2/3.

What have we been learning in Maths?

• We have been learning how to solve vertical multiplication problems and we have been using the bus stop method to solve division problems – Connor & Sophie.

• We have been learning multiplication and division – Eve & Skye. 

• In maths we have been learning our vertical multiplication with an algorithm – Eliza.

• We have been practising our times tables using 99 Math on our Chromebooks. 

What have we been learning in our Knowledge Building Unit?

• Yirra and her deadly dog demon. We have been doing booklets and slides all about it – Poppy.

• We have been learning conjunctions, sentence types, and aboriginal history – Lulu.

• We were doing Yirra and her deadly dog demon and learn about vocabulary and Harold Thomas – Nath.

• All about Yirra and her deadly dog Demon, the Australian Aboriginal Flag and sentence types – Grace.

• Yirra and her deadly dog Demon and Harold Thomas and Aboriginal culture – Henry & Lincoln

What have we been doing in Reading?

• Reading by yourself and then going off in your partners and reading together for 3 minutes. We have also been doing Auslan reading where someone reads and 2 other people sign in Auslan – Poppy. 

• We have been doing fluency reading with partners – Lulu.

• NOT READING LIKE A ROBOT - Finley

• We have been doing Auslan reading and it is fun – Ava.

• I have been doing reading with my partner Lincoln – Leo.

Tell me about book week;

• Book week was really fun we did a Where’s Wally Scavenger Hunt outside, and we had to find Wally. We were all in partners and it was really fun. I dressed up as Claudia – Poppy.

• I dressed up as Pippy Longstocking. We did a big parade at assembly and showed everyone our costumes – Lulu.

• I went as thing 1 and thing 2 with my best friend and we made our book cover it was so fun – Ava and Dahlia. 

• I had so much fun being Olivia from Ella + Olivia with my roller blades. I had to roller blade up the front to get my award – Eliza. 

• I dressed up as Hermione Granger from harry potter and it was very fun and we designed our book cover – Sophie.

• It was very fun to see every one’s costumes. I dress up as Friday Barnes – Grace. 

• I dressed up as a slay green dragon from dragon’s vs wolves – River

• I did not dress up but it was a very fun day  - Michael

• We have been doing Wellbeing and stuff – Eve.

• I am having so much fun learning – Eliza.

• We have been learning about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division so far this year – Nath.
