VISUAL ART

Visual Arts with Vanessa – Term 3 Update
Over the past few weeks, students have been busily bringing their collage artworks to life. After developing their backgrounds with markers and watercolour paints to represent their animal’s habitat, they are now moving on to illustrating and adding colour to their chosen animal before placing it within the scene. We have also been exploring different ways to add texture, creating interest and a sense of three-dimensionality in each piece.
Each year level has taken on a unique focus within the theme "Feathers, Fur, Fins or Scales."
Prep - colourful peacocks
Year 1 - bold lions
Years 2/3 - vibrant fish
Years 4/5 and Year 6 – animals with either feathers, fur, fins or scales.
It has been inspiring to see students experimenting with colour and pattern to give their animals personality and energy. As the artist Marc Chagall once said, “Great art picks up where nature ends.” By exploring animals through art, students are finding creative ways to celebrate the beauty, character, and uniqueness of the natural world.
We look forward to sharing the completed artworks with you very soon! From here, we will begin the foundation work for our entries into the Kyneton and Lancefield Shows. This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to transfer the skills they’ve developed this year into collaborative artworks that proudly represent our school community.
