Dear Families,
Thankyou to all those families that could attend Book Week to view the vibrant costumes of our students. If you couldn't attend, videos are on our school instagram page with a few moments attached below. Whether the students dressed up or not, it was a wonderful celebration. The students enjoyed activities using the CBCA nominated book "How to move a zoo" after our parade.
We congratulate Alex P, Nate, Amara, Kate, Timothy, Emily T, Birmadu, Mary, Aerin, Jonah & Joshua for representing STAPS at today's District Athletics Event at Casey Fields.
Next week we are learning about...
English Focus
Students will continue to compare and contrast the book and the movie of The Wild Robot, while paying particular attention to the vocabulary used.
During writing, the students are writing their concluding paragraph for their persuasive letter. They will review then implement their proofreading and editing skills on their letter. Soon, rehearsal will begin to ultimately deliver a spoken presentation of their letter.
Mathematics Focus
The students will be learning about renaming collections as division equations then on to fractions, and using the bar model to calculate fractions.
Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR
In our unit 'Gender norms and stereotypes' students are talking about gender-based violence, including when people say mean things to others or try to hurt them. We are doing this to understand what gender-based violence or unsafe behaviour is, so we can recognise when it may have been used by ourselves or by others.
Religious Education Focus
The third session of the Rosary with Mary Schulberg was unable to occur this week so will occur on Thursday 28th August. The students have been learning about the Eucharist, and will continue to focus on learning to support the Sacraments.
Integrated Studies Focus
The students are learning to understand the Lifecycle of a chicken and how to prepare for their care, including care of eggs in an incubator. This will support the lovely visitors we will have in our community. Stay tuned!!
Auslan Focus
This week we will be working towards understanding that signs that relate to thinking {such as remember, know and wonder} are signed around your head. Emotions are signed around your head and heart.
