Spring Magic Market – Wool Donations Needed! 🌸✨

As the Spring Magic Market is fast approaching, we are getting ready to add some colour and fun to the event! We are asking families for wool donations so the children can make pompoms to be used as decorations.

This will be a fun and creative activity where the children can take part in the preparations, feel connected to our community, and enjoy the magic spirit of this special event.

Any wool donations—big or small—will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us make the Spring Magic Market extra magical!

Toys from Home at OSHC

At OSHC, we ask families not to send toys from home (unless it is a comfort toy, such as a soft toy).

This is because:

  • It can be difficult for educators to supervise toys from home.
  • Children may trade toys or cards, which often leads to regrets later.
  • Toys brought from home are not always shared with others, which can cause disappointment or distress.

The great news is that OSHC is already filled with a wide variety of resources, games, and activities for children to enjoy and explore.

If your child has a specific need that requires a personal item, please let Bernadetta know so we can make arrangements together.

Booking Reminders for OSHC

We are aware that some families are experiencing booking issues through the Xplor Home app. In some cases, the app may say that a room is “full” when in fact this is not the case. Please know this is an error, and I am currently investigating it with the Xplor support team. In the meantime, if you are having any issues making your booking, please send us a text message or an email at OSHC so we can help arrange it for you.

Important Update: Photos, Videos, and Educator Device Use

The Department of Education has recently updated its requirements around taking photos and videos of children in care, as part of the Child Safe Standards.

This means that educators are no longer permitted to use their personal phones while they are in contact with children. Instead, our team will now be using service iPads to complete roll calls, observations, and to capture children’s learning and play. The iPads have limited access, and staff are not able to use personal emails or messages during their shifts.

These changes are designed to strengthen child safety, protect privacy, and ensure that all children continue to feel safe and supported in our care.

We are also currently working on updating our policies and procedures to reflect these changes, including those around eSafety and child collection.

We thank our families for supporting these important changes and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
