Year Level Captain's Report

Hi everyone, I’m here to give you your fortnightly Year Level Captain report!

As Week 6 gets underway, most classes are well into their PBLs and end-of-term assessments. Everyone is busy, and we wish you all the best of luck!

Last week, we had the wonderful opportunity to host 13 students from our Japanese sister school, Ritsumeikan Keisho. On Tuesday, we welcomed them at Melbourne Airport and brought them to school to meet their buddies. Some even reunited with the hosts they stayed with on last year’s Japan trip! Throughout the week, our guests joined class activities and workshops on Australian culture. On Friday, they visited Healesville Sanctuary to see Australian wildlife, and on Sunday, we said our final farewells as they returned to Japan.

Our Year 9–12 students also completed their barista course! They learnt about coffee types, milk frothing, and operating coffee machines; skills that will help them in future jobs. Each student received a certificate they can use in job applications, making this an excellent way to prepare for work opportunities.

In other news, our school celebrated Footy Colours Day on Monday. Students proudly wore their team colours, joined in footy GOAL activities, and cheered on an exciting AFL match between the Year 12 and staff teams. The event also raised funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation—thank you to everyone who contributed!

Lastly, subject selections for 2026 were finalized last Friday. This was an important step for our Year 8–11 students as they planned their pathways for next year. Year 10s faced the big task of choosing their future VCE subjects, while Year 9s had the opportunity to apply for an early VCE subject in Year 10, in the VCE acceleration program

Now, all that’s left of our term is the final sprint—completing PBLs and wrapping up our subjects. Good luck to everyone, and let’s finish the term strong!
