DECORACION DE ABANICOSO
On Monday, the Spanish Club explored the fascinating history and cultural significance of abanicos(Spanish hand fans). We began with a short presentation about their origins, tracing their journeyfrom ancient Egypt and Asia to their arrival in Europe, where they became a symbol of eleganceand communication.
Students learned that abanicos were not only used for cooling but also as asubtle form of non-verbal communication, with specific movements conveying hidden messages. After the presentation, participants enjoyed a hands-on workshop decorating their own abanicos.Using colourful permanent markers, they expressed their creativity by designing unique patternsand drawings, making each fan a personal work of art.
The activity was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn Spanish vocabulary related to thetopic, explore cultural traditions, and engage in a fun, creative project.
The room was filled withlaughter, vibrant colours, and, by the end, a small exhibition of beautifully decorated fans. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the session a success!
