Year 9 Tasmania Camp
The Year 9 excursion to Tasmania was an unforgettable experience for students and staff of Wagga Wagga Christian College. Travelling via Geelong and crossing Bass Strait aboard the Spirit of Tasmania, students embarked on a journey filled with adventure, personal growth, and spiritual enrichment.
Throughout the trip, students consistently demonstrated maturity, respect, and kindness. Their behaviour impressed not only the accompanying teachers but also members of the public and tour guides. Their ability to represent the College with integrity was a highlight in itself.
Spiritual Highlights
One of the most cherished aspects of the excursion was the time spent in devotions. These moments provided opportunities for reflection, connection, and encouragement, strengthening both faith and friendships. The devotional sessions were described as “awesome” and deeply impactful.
Activity Highlights
High Ropes Challenge
Students faced their fears and supported one another on a thrilling high ropes course. This activity was a standout moment, showcasing courage, teamwork, and personal achievement.
Richmond Scavenger Hunt
Exploring the historic town of Richmond, students participated in a scavenger hunt that combined fun with learning. They visited Australia’s oldest bridge and engaged with the town’s rich heritage in an interactive and memorable way.
Blue Lagoon Christian Youth Camp
Time spent at Blue Lagoon was filled with laughter, encouragement, and bonding. Students thrived in the camp environment, building stronger relationships and enjoying a range of group activities that fostered unity and support.
Tasman Island Eco Tour
A breathtaking speedboat eco tour around Tasman Island gave students a close-up view of Tasmania’s stunning coastal wilderness. They were thrilled to see hundreds of albatross soaring overhead and seals lounging on the rocks. The experience was both exhilarating and educational, offering a deeper appreciation for Australia’s unique marine life.
Platypus House Visit
At Platypus House, students learned about Australia’s fascinating native monotremes, the platypus and echidna. This hands-on educational experience deepened their understanding of these rare and remarkable creatures, sparking curiosity and respect for the natural world.
HSC Showcase
The HSC Showcase was held on Thursday 28 August (for Year 12 and their families) and Friday 29 August for visitors to the College on Grandparents Day.
Year 12 Major Works in Visual Arts, Design & Technology and Industrial Technology were on display and our Year 12 Music 1 students performed some of their HSC pieces. These students have spent the last nine months working on these projects and performances, and we were blessed with the opportunity to see and hear the fruits of their efforts. Their talent, skill and countless hours of hard work were reflected in the portfolio and final works.
The external marking of projects and performances will take place in the next 6 weeks, and all students are now preparing for written exams.
Outdoor Ed Campfire
The Outdoor Ed students came together around a campfire, learning about collaboration, resourcefulness, and responsible fire management.
It was a great way to gain hands-on experience and build connection within the class.
