Mandarin

Dear BEPS community,

Welcome back to Term 3! This term, we will focus on the exciting big idea, “I am an engineer”. Students across Foundation to Year 6 will build their Mandarin language skills through engaging, level-appropriate STEM themes.

Foundation students will continue to learn about colours and reinforce their basic vocabulary while exploring how different shades are used in design and construction.

Year 1 and 2 students started learning about space, using Mandarin to discover planets and rockets while mastering the sentence frame “I see…” (我看见...) to describe the engineering marvels of the universe.

Year 3 and 4 students started to learn about farm life and farm animals, including the journey of milk. They will expand their language skills to describe farm operations and express what they can see on a farm using key structures. 

Year 5 and 6 students are learning about iconic buildings in China, investigating structural designs and cultural history to directly help them with their landmark diorama project.
