Year 2 Healesville Sanctuary Excursion

On Thursday the 30th of July, our Year 2 students set off on an exciting adventure to Healesville Sanctuary - and what a fantastic day it was!

Students became curious young engineers as they explored the clever innovations used to care for animals. They investigated how enclosures, feeding systems and habitat features are thoughtfully designed to keep animals safe, healthy and happy, while also reducing the need for constant human assistance.

Throughout the day, students enjoyed immersive activities, close-up animal encounters and plenty of opportunities to learn about Australian animals, their habitats and their basic needs. A special education session also helped students discover the important connections between Australian animals, Aboriginal cultures and traditional stories.

There was so much excitement as students spotted wildlife, shared their observations and asked thoughtful questions. The day was filled with learning, laughter and lots of memorable moments!

The knowledge gained from this visit will now inspire students as they use their engineering, problem-solving and design skills to develop creative ideas and meaningful improvements within our own school environment. We cannot wait to see what our budding engineers create!
