Foundation and Year 4 Buddies

On the 22nd July, our Foundation and Year 4 buddies enjoyed another session getting to know one another through a range of fun and engaging activities.
To begin, students played an exciting Heads and Tails game. Buddies predicted whether a coin would land on heads or tails by placing their hands on their heads or their hips. It was a fantastic way to get everyone moving, laughing, and working together.
The buddies then completed a special "Getting to Know You" hand tracing activity. Year 4 students carefully traced their Foundation buddy's hand, as well as their own and helped their Foundation buddies proudly attempt to write their name, age, and draw a self-portrait in the centre of their hand. They worked together in their buddy groups to add three sentences sharing interesting facts about themselves, such as their favourite food, colour, or hobby. These colourful displays celebrated each student's unique personality while helping to learn more about one another.
To finish the session, buddies enjoyed eating lunch together before heading outside to play. They had a wonderful time building friendships through playing together on the playground or playing different ball games such as soccer.
During our second session on Tuesday the 4th August, the students listened to the story Giraffes Can’t Dance and brainstormed all of the things we have learnt this year in Foundation. The Year 4 buddies then helped the Foundation students create a star with their own personal goal on it.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our Foundation and Year 4 students to connect, build confidence, and strengthen our positive school community. We look forward to many more buddy activities throughout the year!
