Book Week is Coming to BEPS!
We are excited to celebrate Book Week at Burwood East Primary School, with a week full of activities designed to inspire a love of reading, creativity and imagination.
Book Character Dress Up Day – Monday 24th August
To launch our Book Week celebrations, we're bringing back our Book Character Dress Up Day! Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on Monday 24th August. Whether it's a classic storybook character, a modern favourite or a creative homemade costume, we can't wait to see the wonderful range of characters around the school.
The BEPS Story Treehouse
Throughout the week, every class will create its own unique Treehouse floor, inspired by Andy Griffiths' famous Treehouse series.
Each class will decorate either their classroom door or a display board outside their classroom, creating a colourful Book Week trail for students, staff and visitors to enjoy as they explore the school.
Students will use their imagination to invent an original Treehouse floor, deciding:
What it is called
What happens there
Who uses it
Why it is such an amazing place
We can't wait to see the incredible creativity our students bring to life!
A Visit from Andy Griffiths - Tuesday 25th August
One of the highlights of Book Week will be a visit from Andy Griffiths, one of Australia's most loved children's authors and creator of the bestselling Treehouse series.
Andy will spend 60 minutes with our Year 3–6 students, sharing stories, discussing his writing journey and offering a behind-the-scenes look at how his imaginative books are created. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet a renowned Australian author and be inspired in their own reading and writing.
We're also hoping Andy will take a walk through the school to view our Story Treehouse displays and choose a favourite class creation!
Book Week promises to be a wonderful celebration of books, creativity and storytelling, and we look forward to sharing this exciting experience with all of our students. Happy reading!
