📚 Library News: 2026 CBCA Book of the Year Winners Announced! 📚
As we settle into the middle of Term 3, the Library continues to be a wonderful hub of quiet reading, lively discussions, and ongoing borrowing for our term challenges. With the excitement of our Book Week parade behind us, we now turn our attention to the main event in Australian children's literature: the official announcement of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2026 Book of the Year Awards!
These prestigious awards celebrate the very best storytellers, artists, and publishers in the country. Our students have loved exploring the shortlisted titles over the past few terms, and we are excited to share the official category winners with our school community.

🌟 Our Library Favourites
While the judges had the tough job of choosing the top winners, our Library collection boasts the full shortlist, and a few titles stood out as absolute favourites among our students and staff during reading sessions this year:
- Bob and Dob by Sean E Avery: A wonderfully funny picture book that had our younger readers laughing out loud.
- Derek by Anne Donaldson and Matt Shanks: A heartwarming, beautifully illustrated tale that quickly became one of our most requested borrowing choices.
Copies of these award-winning and shortlisted books are currently on display in the Library and are available for students to borrow.
📖 Keep on Borrowing!
A quick reminder that our Top Borrower ($5 canteen pass and queue-jumper voucher) and Top Borrowing Class (Hot Chip Lunch) competitions are still running! Every time your child borrows during their weekly Library session, their counts go toward these end-of-term rewards.
Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a strong love of reading at home!
