Mathematics

Welcome back to term 3 to our Kellyville High School students’ and their families. This term, our Middle School students will be studying the following concepts:

 

  • Year 7 – Indices, Algebraic Techniques and Probability.
  • Year 8 – Equations, Length and Area and Volume. 
  • Year 9 – Numbers of Any Magnitude (Core), Area & Surface Area A (Core), Volume A (Core), Linear Relationships A (Core) & B (Core), Data Analysis A (Core) & C (Path), Linear Relationships C (Path) and Trigonometry A (Core) & B (Core). These topics will be presented according to students’ level of study.

 

The Senior School students will be studying the following concepts, according to their level of study:

 

  • Year 10 – Area and Surface Area Review A (Core), Volume A Review (Core), Equations A (Core) Review & C (Path), Variation & Rates of Change A (Path) & B (Path), Probability B (Path), Trigonometry C (Path) & D (Path), Non-Linear Relationships C (Path) and Properties of Geometrical Figures B (Path) & C (Path).
  • Year 11:
    • Mathematics Standard – Data Analysis and Networks, Paths and Trees.
    • Mathematics Advanced – Trigonometric Identities and Equations, Graph transformations and Probability and Data.
    • Mathematics Extension 1 – Further Trigonometry and Graphical relationships and inverse functions.
    • Year 12:
    • Mathematics Standard 1 – Simultaneous Linear Equations and Graphs of Practical Situations.
    • Mathematics Standard 2 – Simultaneous Linear Equations and Non-Linear Relationships.
    • Mathematics Advanced – Bivariate Data Analysis, Continuous Random Variables and The Normal Distributions.
    • Mathematics Extension 1 – Extension and consolidation of course concepts.
    • Mathematics Extension 2 Further Proof by Mathematical Induction.

The Middle School and Year 10 students will engage in the completion of a Working Mathematically Task and will sit a related Class Test. This term, students in Year 11 will complete their yearly examinations to conclude their courses and Year 12 students have engaged in the completion of their final school-based Trial Examinations for Mathematics.
