This term in Year 10 Science, we have been exploring the fascinating world of Chemistry and learning about how particles interact and react with each other. We have been studying ionic and covalent bonds, chemical formulas, elements and how the arrangement of particles affects the properties of different substances. Alongside learning the theory, we have also been completing colourful and exciting experiments that allow us to see chemical reactions happening in front of us. One memorable demonstration involved an upside down water bottle that suddenly flew upwards and produced a loud noise. This was due to the hydrogen oxygen mixture inside the bottle reacting with the heat placed underneath because of the flame. These practical experiments have made Chemistry more interesting and have helped us connect what we learn in the classroom to the reactions and processes happening around us.
