Sacrament of Confirmation
Our Year 6 students celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, 16th August. It was a wonderful celebration, marking an important milestone in their faith journey as they were strengthened by the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and affirmed in their commitment to live as disciples of Christ.
We congratulate all of our Confirmation candidates and thank their families, sponsors, and the parish community for their support and prayers. It was a joyful, memorable occasion, and we are proud of the reverence, confidence, and faith our students showed throughout the celebration. Thank you also to Fr. Andrew (Episcopal Vicar), Fr. Justin, Mr. Schinck, and the wonderful Year Six teachers, Fleur Peppard and Elise Fisher.
Congratulations to Alex Anasta, Elroy Barry, Molly Bedford, Ollie Brereton, Rocco Camera, Lucas Costante, Valerie Doan, Tilly Dunk, Emma Matheson, Harlow Mefsut, Elle Naiken, Kaitlin Naismith, Sienna Payet, Emma Ruska, and Angelina Vines.
Loving God, we give you thanks for the wonderful gift of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
We thank you for our Confirmation candidates, who have opened their hearts to receive the Holy Spirit.
May the gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder and awe in your presence guide them throughout their lives.
Bless their families, sponsors, teachers, priests, and parish community who have supported them on this important step in their faith journey.
May this celebration inspire all of us to live as faithful disciples of Jesus, sharing your love, kindness, and hope with everyone we meet.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Researching the Saints
The Year Six students shared their research projects about their chosen saint with the whole school at assembly last Friday. They shared with us the reason why they chose their saint, some facts about them, and why that saint inspired has them.
The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary
This Saturday we celebrate the feast of The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Pope Pius XII established this feast on 22 August 1954, although Mary’s Queenship has roots in scripture.
Queen of Heaven is the title derived from the ancient Catholic teaching that Mary was bodily and spiritually assumed into heaven. Queen of Heaven was one of many Queen titles used for Mary, mother of Jesus. It is the Catholic belief that Mary ascended into heaven and is honoured there as Queen.
The Hail Holy Queen prayer, originally known by its Latin name, Salve Regina, is recited at the end of The Rosary.
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Amen
