The school’s production of Sister Act is well underway with rehearsals every Monday and Thursday and having done a full day rehearsal on Monday 18 May. The cast is starting to get the hang of the big numbers in the show, and are progressing nicely through scenes and songs. The VCE VM students have also started making some amazing props for the show that are turning out great and are helping the magic of the show come to life.
We also had our school’s jazz night on Saturday 23rd in which music students performed their music acts to friends and family accompanied by a professional band, Plan b. Rehearsals for this went for a couple weeks, with school bands practicing for a week and singers having late night practices with the Plan b band. The night ran smoothly with everyone performing incredibly well, amazing the crowd with the musical talent that resides in Norwood.
All studies have been going well, with Year 12s having the relief of accomplishing their second VCE English SAC on Tuesday 19 May. Along with English, many other subjects have been completing their SACs that are also going really well, and students are very happy to have these finished. Don’t forget to stay proactive with your studies and to take breaks when needed!
Over the past three weeks, Wellness Wednesday has also highlighted several important causes, including Check In On A Mate, Do It For Dolly, and IDAHOBIT. Check In On A Mate focuses on the importance of men’s mental health and encourages people to support one another through open conversations and regularly checking in on friends. Remember that small actions can make a big difference. 'Do It For Dolly' is a day taking a stand against bullying and promoting kindness to help create a safer and more supportive environment for everyone. IDAHOBIT highlights the importance of inclusion, respect, and acceptance for LGBTQIA+ individuals, encouraging celebration of diversity within our school community. Make sure to always look out for one another, remember to be kind, speak up when needed, and help us to continue building our positive and supportive school environment every day.
