Jazz Night

The annual College Jazz Night was held on Saturday 23 May and was a sell out! Having 90 students perform is a testament to the dedication of our Instrumental Music Teachers. Many senior vocal students from Years 10 - 12, performed big numbers alongside Plan B Big Band. After only 3 afterschool practice sessions, they delivered outstanding vocal performances, some doing so for the very first time. I am always amazed at their talent and capacity to sing with a full band.

The Jazz Night was also an opportune time for our students learning an instrument to showcase their talents in the Concert Band, The Senior String Orchestra, the Intermediate Band and individually too. The Chorale Choir has expanded in numbers and performed impressively.

Congratulations to all students for performing on the evening. I'm sure you could hear the thunderous applause from the appreciative audience. We were all so very proud of your talents.

Thank you to the following instrumental music teachers:

  • Luke Dema: Brass teacher & Junior Band

  • Maria Camila Camperos Galdino: Strings teacher & Senior Strings Orchestra

  • Lauren Innes: Brass teacher & Concert Band

  • Rachel Tunaley: Voice - soloists & Chorale

  • Jaaz Tobias-Quigley: Woodwind teacher & Instrumental Band

  • Andrew Rousch: Percussion teacher & Band Percussion

Industrial action

An 'in principle' agreement has been reached between the AEU and the Department of Education, resulting in work bans being lifted. The only exception to this has been an agreement between both parties that Semester 1 reports will have no comments. Please see the 'Department Updates' page for further details.

Facilities update

Last year we received a $500,000 State Government Grant to upgrade our main student toilet facilities. We are currently working with an archetect company to design modern bathrooms for our students. At this stage, there is no accurate timeframe on when these works will commence but they are expected to be finished in 2027. We will be aiming for minimal disruption by maximising school holidays for the bulk of this work.

Currently, a landscaping company is redesigning a space adjacent to the oval and Gymnasium. This new recreational space, that tends to be muddy in winter, will have synthetic turf so that it can be used by students all year round. A team of students have designed a Gaga Pit and will be assembling and installing this. We will also be installing permanent outdoor table tennis facilitiies for students.
