Thank You, Armajun!
A big thank you to Mya and Rodney from Armajun for visiting the STARS Room and delivering the Smoking and Vaping Awareness Yarning Group to our Year 7 and 8 students.
Through their knowledge, engaging discussions and willingness to share important information, students were encouraged to think critically about the impacts of smoking and vaping and to make informed choices for their health and wellbeing.
We greatly appreciate Mya and Rodney taking the time to connect with our students and contribute to these meaningful conversations. Thank you for your ongoing support of our young people and our school community.
Bindaree Food Group Visit
The Stars Foundation Year 9 and 10 girls recently toured Bindaree Beef, gaining valuable insight into the many career pathways available within the facility. The visit offered a firsthand look at the "paddock to plate" journey, helping students understand how high-quality beef is produced.
They explored opportunities in agriculture, science, technology, logistics, administration, and more – broadening their understanding of this diverse industry.

STARS Foundation Students Build Their Future
In Week 6, our STARS Foundation students took part in an exciting Construct a Cubby House Workshop! This hands-on experience taught them teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity — essential skills for life and work.
By engaging in real-world construction activities, the workshop opened doors to diverse career paths in the Building and Construction industry, inspiring students to dream big beyond the classroom.
Next up: the students will paint the cubby house in the coming weeks before kindly donating it to a local preschool. A huge thank you to Mr Taylor from the Educational Pathways Program for his expert guidance and support throughout.
We can’t wait to see the vibrant Cubby House find its new home soon!
NSW Police Western Region Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers Meeting
The Stars and Clontarf Academy students recently had the privilege of attending the NSW Police Western Region Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers Meeting, where they were warmly welcomed by Superintendent David Cooper from the Oxley Police District.
Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers travelled from across the region, including Wellington, Armidale, Bourke, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Moree, and Inverell, to attend the meeting.
Superintendent Cooper spoke with the students about the importance of education, making positive life choices, and building strong relationships between police and local communities. His message encouraged students to continue striving towards their goals and highlighted the value of community partnerships.
Following the presentation, students were invited to inspect the new Highway Patrol vehicle and motorcycle. They enjoyed the unique opportunity to sit inside the patrol vehicle and experience the police lights and sirens firsthand.
The visit also provided a relaxed and welcoming environment for students to engage with Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers, learning about their roles within the NSW Police Force and the communities they proudly represent.
Students were treated to a fantastic lunch generously provided by NSW Police, which added to an enjoyable and memorable day.
A special thank you goes to Inverell Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, Mr Matt Cutmore, for extending the invitation and organising such a valuable and engaging experience for our students.
