As we approach the conclusion of another busy and successful term, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the many achievements of our students and staff and to highlight several important events coming up in the final weeks of the semester.
Farewell to Katherine McNamara
At the end of this term, Inverell High School will farewell one of our long-serving School Administration staff members, Katherine McNamara.
Since joining Inverell High School in 2008, Katherine has made an outstanding contribution to our school community. Her genuine care for others, positive outlook and unwavering commitment to supporting students, staff and families have made a lasting difference to countless people.
Katherine has always approached her role with kindness, compassion and a willingness to help others. Her ability to build positive relationships and make everyone feel welcome has been a hallmark of her time at Inverell High School. Her dedication and the impact she has had on our school community will not be forgotten.
On behalf of the students, staff and broader Inverell High School community, I would like to sincerely thank Katherine for her years of service and wish her every success, happiness and fulfilment in the next chapter of her journey. She will be greatly missed.
Semester 1 Academic Awards Ceremony
Recognising and celebrating student achievement remains an important part of our culture at Inverell High School. In Week 11, we will host our annual Semester 1 Academic Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the academic success, commitment and effort demonstrated by our students throughout the first semester.
The ceremony will be held on Wednesday 1 July at 10:00am in the Multi-Purpose Unit (MPU). We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students alongside their families and teachers.
Semester 1 Reports
Semester 1 reports will be distributed during the final days of term. These reports provide valuable feedback regarding student achievement, learning progress and areas for future growth. I encourage all parents and carers to take the opportunity to discuss these reports with their children and celebrate the successes and goals identified.
Year 7–10 Parent Teacher Evening
Our Year 7–10 Parent Teacher Evening will be held on Wednesday 23 July. This provides an important opportunity for parents and carers to meet with teachers, discuss student progress and work together to support learning and wellbeing outcomes.
Further information regarding booking procedures and session times will be provided early next term.
North West Cross Country Success
Congratulations to all students who represented Inverell High School at the North West Cross Country Trials in Coolah last week.
Our students performed exceptionally well, demonstrating determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the event. We are particularly proud of those students who have been selected to represent the North West region at the NSW Cross Country Championships in Sydney later this year.
We wish these students every success as they continue their sporting journey and thank them for representing Inverell High School with pride.
Revised Student Code of Conduct
The NSW Department of Education has announced that from 2027, all NSW public schools will implement a revised Student Code of Conduct.
The revised code establishes clear, consistent and high expectations for student behaviour across all public schools and will replace the current Behaviour Code for Students. The existing code will remain in place throughout 2026.
The revised Student Code of Conduct is built around three simple and important expectations:
Respect everyone
Be responsible
Be safe
At Inverell High School, we remain committed to maintaining high standards of behaviour and fostering a positive learning environment where every student can succeed. These expectations will continue to be explicitly taught, modelled and reinforced in classrooms, playgrounds and online environments.
Positive behaviour is a shared responsibility. When students, parents, carers and school staff work together with common expectations, we create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where all members of our school community can thrive.
As we move through 2026, our staff will continue to review our current Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) practices and systems to ensure alignment with the Department's revised expectations while maintaining the strong positive culture that exists within our school.
