Fijian Clothes Drive
As you will know, the JSC reps have organised a clothing drive for Fiji. Please see details in the flyer below.
The school is also helping to support this wonderful cause with a donation of furniture that we no longer use, but is in good condition. This furniture will be placed into schools, hospitals and community centres where it is most needed, in different communities around Fiji. It is fantastic to think that instead of going into landfill, these items will find a new home and a new purpose. The school will also be donating some classroom supplies of textas, pencils and glue sticks.
This week, I had the pleasure of meeting Liz Zamanis-Robinson, who is the General Manager of the Katalyst Foundation, the charity that is organising the furniture and clothing pick up and distribution. Liz was very touched to hear that the JSC had organised the clothing drive in addition to the furniture and other supplies, and she is extremely grateful to our Mitcham community for their help. Thank you to our wonderful Business Manager, Michelle Shearn and ES staff member, Lorraine Stevens, for organising this opportunity for MPS.
So, if you are able, please encourage your child to pick out a T-shirt in excellent condition that they would be happy to pass on to someone in need, or send along a pair of thongs (new) to support our clothing drive. We will also be including some letters and drawings from our students along with the donations. Thank you for your support.
